BATE Borisov go down to Barcelona 2-0 in Champions League

In a match of the 3rd round of the Champions League group stage FC BATE lost to one of the strongest teams in Europe, Spain's Barcelona 0:2.

On the crowded Borisov Arena stadium Barcelona from the first minute predictably took the match under control and attacked the Belarusian goal many times. However, the confident game of the BATE goalkeeper Sergei Chernik did not allow the Spaniards to score in the first half. Moreover, inspired by the game of their goalkeeper, BATE in the second part of the first half organized several potentially dangerous attacks.

The second half started with attacks of Barcelona one of which ended in a goal, Ivan Rakitic scoring from distance. In the 65th minute Neimar fed Rakitic who made a double lobbing the ball over the BATE keeper. Barcelona did not concede until the end of the game and won 2-0.

BATE will again face Barcelona on 4 November in Spain.

BATE earlier met Barcelona in the Champions League. In the group stage of the 2011/2012 Champions League the champions of Spain twice defeated the strongest team of Belarus 28 September at Dinamo stadium 5-0 and then outplayed the Belarusians in Spain 4-0.
