Belarus' Sports Minister votes in presidential election

October 8 is the third day of early voting in the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus. In the two previous days, almost 11% of people made their choice.

As practice shows, among those who are willing to vote early are students who go on a weekend visit to their parents and athletes participating in international competitions.

Alexander Shamko, Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus:
Sporting events are usually held on weekends and this weekend is no exception. We choose free Belarus, wonderful children, their future, and social policy and social orientation of our state.

More than 6,000 polling stations have been formed in Belarus and abroad. Both national and international observers are monitoring election proceedings. The largest missions represent the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. According to recent data, Belarus has accredited 900 international observers.
