Over 77,000 families with many children registered in Belarus

The House of Press hosted a round table attended by prominent Belarusian ladies: representative of the Belarusian Union of Women, officials, writers and journalists.

The participants discussed social support and spiritual education of future generations.

"Strong family means strong state" was the motto of today's event in Belarus.

The birth rate in Belarus has been growing since 2004, and in 2007 the number of newborns for the first time in many years exceeded 100,000. Since then, this figure has been only growing.

Marianna Shchetkina, chairman of the NGO Belarusian Union of Women:
In 2009, we had 62,500 large families. As of of September 1, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection registered more than 77,000 large families.

Belarus earlier adopted the National Program of Demographic Security. It provides for significant financial support. For example, in 2015 Belarus introduced family capital. Accounts for $10,000 each have been opened for thousands of Belarusians.

Belarus is in 33rd place among 160 countries and first in the CIS in terms of the most favorable conditions for motherhood.

Lilia Ananich, Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus:
We are ahead of CIS countries and many so-called developed countries. The country focused on man and is now ahead of many countries.

Each family is important for the state. After all, the weather is in the homes of Belarusians will largely determine the climate in our common home.
