The delegation of the Sakhalin region of Russia has laid wreath at the monument in Victory Square in Minsk. For Belarusians and Russians this traditional ritual has a special meaning. Seven decades ago, our people fought shoulder to shoulder against the Nazi invaders. Memory of the victims during that terrible war was observed with a minute of silence. The anthems of the two countries were played.
Then governor Oleg Kozhemyako returned to the work schedule. During the visit he will hold business negotiations. The sides will sum up the work over the past years and discuss new projects. Belarus and Sakhalin are 10,000km apart but this does not prevent them from finding common ground. The dialogue has been pushed forward by the agreement on trade, economic and cultural cooperation the sides signed at the 2nd Forum of Regions in Sochi.
