Belarus' stance on Russia's use of air force in Syria

The increase in terrorist activity in the Middle East makes the topic of collective measures against terrorism even more important. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry today, October 1, commented on the position of our country in regard to the Russian Federation, which has started to use its armed forces in Syria. Belarus once again expresses support for the efforts of the international community in the fight against all manifestations of terrorism and extremism.

Dmitry Mironchik, foreign ministry spokesperson:
The Belarusian side quickly, in fact within a few hours after the decision of the Federation Council, received the relevant official information from our Russian partners. On the basis of international law, primarily the UN Charter, the use of armed forces abroad can be made only in the case of a request from a state or in the case of decision by the UN Security Council. In this case, the President of Syria turned to the Russian Federation.

Russia began air strikes against terrorists in Syria. It bombed armories, control centers, communication centers and vehicles of militants. All targets and management staff of terrorist groups located in a mountainous area were completely destroyed.
