Belarus honors winners of 28th Summer Universiade

Motivation to high achievements. Minsk hosted a ceremony of honoring the winners of the XXVIII Summer Universiade. The best athletes and their coaches received government awards.

The Belarusian team, in the South Korea's Gwangju, showed good results despite a small number of athletes in the team. Every second returned home with a medal. Gymnast Melitina Stanyuta and swimmer Yevgeny Tsurkin made the largest contribution to the national team's overall results.

Mikhail Zhuravkov, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus:
The efforts of the Government and the President to support sports movement in Belarus are not in vain. This is confirmed by the results of our students participating in international competitions of various levels. Including at World University Games.

Melitina Stanyuta, winner of the Universiade 2015:
Nothing comes easily and that gold in the ribbon routine was hard. I am very glad that my motto "through suffering to renown" is once again confirmed. Yes, it was hard, but now I am doubly pleased.

Yevgeny Tsurkin, winner of the Universiade 2015:
When you stand on the podium between the American and Brazilian and you are standing on the highest step, this is a crazy feeling. Your anthem is playing and your flag is above all others. It sends shivers up and down.
