Star Darya Domracheva holds Race of Biathlon Legends in Raubichi

Legends of world biathlon gathered near Minsk to partake in the biathlon festival "Race of legends - stars for peace." Sven Fischer, Ricco Gross, Lars Berger, Frode Andresen, Halvard Hanevold, Michael Greis, Liv-Grete Poiret, Alain Zubrilova and other legends of the world biathlon. All of them rose to the highest step of Olympic podiums 20 times. Beginning from Sarajevo 1984 to Vancouver 2010.

Darya Domracheva, Hero of Belarus, winner of the Big Crystal Globe, three-time Olympic champion in biathlon:
I personally sent invitations to all athletes and wrote letters. For me, of course, it was great pleasure that they supported the idea of this competition.

6,000 tickets were sold out in just a few days. The organizers released an additional package for those who wanted to see the race standing along the track. Raubichi hosted about 10,000 fans yesterday. The brand-new "Laura" - the Olympic biathlon complex in Sochi - would not be capable of hosting so many people at one time.

The show was a success, largely thanks to stars and the guests who did not hide their admiration for everything happening. Norway's Lars Berger is famous for being the world champion not only in biathlon but also in cross-country skiing.

Lars Berger, three-time biathlon world champion, world champion in cross-country skiing (Norway):
I think it's a great idea. It's nice to meet friends and compete again. The complex is very nice, this is a very nice place for our sport.

Alexander Tikhonov, four-time Olympic biathlon champion (Russia):
Belarus deserved this. Note that when any event (football, gymnastics - whatever) is held in Belarus, its organizers, presidents of international federations unequivocally say: 'This is the best championship!'

The President of Belarus is a big fan of the biathlon and the sport in general. Alexander Lukashenko specially met with Darya Domracheva a few days before the race to find out how the preparations were going.

Darya Domracheva, Hero of Belarus, winner of the Big Crystal Globe, three-time Olympic champion in biathlon:
The Race of Legends is of course, a grand event, a unique event. But, generally, I think people fell in love with biathlon so much that they deserve to enjoy this event.

Raubichi, after reconstruction, in no way inferior to the best world stadiums. Even the legendary Bjoerndalen trained here this summer.

Michael Greis, three-time Olympic champion in biathlon (Germany):
It's just incredible. I think it's an interesting experience for me, because I have not performed at the highest level for three years. It's hard to figure out how you can better spend your time.

Valery Vakulchik, chairman of the Belarusian Federation of biatldona:
Many stars who have come here are themselves sports functionaries and managers. They understand and wonder how we managed to organize it all in just a few months because, as a rule, it takes more than a year to organize such activities.

On September 12 biathletes started twice. After the super-sprint, relay teams were formed. Serious fight for medals unfolded here.

As a result, gold went to the German-French duo Fischer-Baverel.

During the event, Darya Domracheva was given the prize "Best Female Athlete 2014" by the European Union of Sports Press.
