Day of Belarusian Written Language. Today, the capital of the holiday - Shchuchin - receives numerous visitors.

The celebration program started with an opening after the restoration of the Palace of the Drutsk-Lyubetsky Family. Now the 19th century building houses the Center of Children and Youth, a museum, and a conference room. This is a gift to the town and another successful project of public investment in culture and education.

Mikhail Zhuravkov, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus:
Shchuchin is famous for its achievements in children's creativity. I hope that in the future Shchuchin will deliver to the education system and in general to our country new and interesting and of course creative people. Here children will find something to do in line with their interests.

Among other Written Language Day events are themed book, newspaper and photo exhibitions, presentations of new books of Belarusian writers and meetings of authors with readers.

President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the participants and guests of the celebrations timed to the Day of Belarusian Written Language.

Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus President:
This festival brings together those who treat with great respect Belarusian language, the spiritual heritage of our people, national culture, education and literature. Nearly 500-year history of Belarusian book printing shows the great contribution of our country into the world treasury of knowledge. And today, in the time of rapid development of new information technologies, the book and genuine artistic expression of the writer are still demanded by modern society.
