Ukraine marks Independence Day August 24

Ukraine is celebrating Independence Day on August 24. As many as 24 years ago the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic adopted the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine. 

In Kiev, flower laying ceremonies were held near various important monuments. Khreshchatyk hosted an independence march.

Today, Ukraine, despite the difficult conditions, remains a reliable trade partner of Belarus. In 2014, the countries managed to preserve high bilateral trade figures - more than $5.5 billion.  

The partnership between Belarus and Ukraine receives new content thanks to the deepening of the political dialogue, emphasized Belarus' President Alexander Lukashenko in his Independence Day congratulatory message to the Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko.
