Palova Arena in Minsk to host the 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 European Championships

Tomorrow, on August 21, Minsk will play host to the 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 European Championships.

Preparation actually took two weeks. Boys and girls have been training hard and are getting used to the 3x3 arena.

According to the competition rules, coaches will not be able to help their charges with advice,” says Andrei Pavlenko, coach of Belarus U18. “Our task is to teach them to make right decisions on their own.” He admits that psychological pressure is high prior to the start.

Out of the 12 players who wanted to be part of the 3x3 national team only four are left. They are advised not only by their coach but also by their experienced counterparts – players of the Belarusian national basketball team.

On August 21, Belarus women’s 3x3 team will face Hungary. The competition will show whether Belarus is capable of hosting bigger basketball tournaments.
