Alexander Lukashenko to Vietnamese ambassador: There are no obstacles to tighter trade relations between Belarus and Vietnam

Belarus and Vietnam have no obstacles for the development of trade relations. This statement was made by the Belarus President at the meeting with the ambassador of Vietnam. Do Van Mai is completing his diplomatic mission in the republic. Alexander Lukashenko thanked the representative of the official Minsk to Hanoi for his work.

Vietnam is an important partner of our country in the Asian region. Belarus is very interested in expanding cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.

Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus President:
Vietnam is one of the largest states, not only in the Asian region, but also the planet. A population of 90 mln., a thriving and strategically important region. I visited your beautiful country several times. And we are happy for you. I am sure that in the coming decades Vietnam will be among the most developed countries of the world. Building relations with you, we would like to participate in this rapid development.
In turn, we are ready to do everything to ensure that the interests of Vietnam are represented here at the heart of Europe. You know our advantages, especially given the fact that Belarus signed with Vietnam a contract on a free trade zone on behalf of the Eurasian Economic Union. I think there are no obstacles for the development of trade and economic relations today.

Do Van Mai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Belarus:
I am grateful for the evaluation of my work as an ambassador. We hope that your visit to Vietnam, which is expected in late 2015, will help to further promote cooperation.

The Head of State has already twice visited Vietnam with official visits. For now, economic cooperation lags behind the political dimension of the dialogue. The countries can afford to conduct several joint projects that can be exemplary in the cooperation. Belarus-Vietnam turnover today is estimated at $170 million. Belarus exports to Vietnam fertilizers, trucks, buses, tractors, trucks and medicines. An assembly line of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) is open is Vietnam, too. The countries are implementing a program of economic cooperation.
