Alexander Lukashenko congratulates President of India on Independence Day

India celebrated last week one of the major national holidays - Independence Day. The main celebrations took place at the walls of the Red Fort. The Prime Minister raised the flag over the main bastion of the medieval fortress, then watches the guard of honor and addresses to the nation.

This tradition is already 69 years old. In 1947 this day the Indian Independence Act was adopted. Since then, the festival has been celebrated every year.

Flag raising ceremonies are held across the country in both large cities and small villages. Ordinary Indians celebrate this holiday by flying kites that depict national symbols.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated his Indian counterpart on Independence Day on behalf of the Belarusian people and personally.
