Alexander Lukashenko, his youngest son Nikolai harvest crops near presidential residence

The Belarusian head of state worked on Sunday this week. On August 16 in the territory of the official residence "Drozdy", the President together with his youngest son harvested crops. Some 18 acres of potatoes were harvested in half an hour. All in all, the family collected 7 tens of bags.

In the near future, this rich harvest will be sent to children's homes and other social establishments.

Belarusian agrarians harvested a rich crop of traditional (cereals and potatoes) and non-traditional (watermelons and melons) crops.  Back in 2014 the President on a personal example showed that these cultures can and should be harvested in our country.

This season melons received three times as much area as last year at the residence of the Belarusian leader. But in the days of the Soviet Union, there were no attempts to grow watermelons in Belarus.

Growing of watermelons in Belarus is a promising direction of agriculture. The profitability of this culture comes to 180%. Today Belarusian watermelons are grown in the Smolevichi, Slutsk and Kobrin districts. Plans include massive cultivation of watermelons in the Polesie area in the south of Belarus.
