Belarusian Victoria Azarenka failed to beat Italian Sara Errani and progress to the quarterfinals of the WTA tennis tournament in Toronto, Canada (the prize fund $2.5 million).

Azarenka (21) lost to Errani (17) in straight sets 5:7, 3:6. The meeting lasted 1 hour 48 minutes. Before that Victoria Azarenka beat Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (15) 6:1, 6:4 and the world's number 4 Czech Petra Kvitova 6:2, 6:3.

Next week, Victoria will take part in a tournament in US Cincinnati.

In Montreal, Canada, veteran of Belarusian tennis Max Mirnyi and Spaniard Feliciano Lopez did not qualify for the quarterfinals of the men's doubles tournament with a prize pot of $4.1 million.

In the first round, the Belarusian-Spanish duo defeated the Austrian-Belgian tandem of Dominic Thiem / David Goffin, 6:3, 1:6, 10:8 and then were defeated by the best tennis team in the world American twin brothers Bob and Mike Bryan, 5:7, 4:6.

The competitions in Toronto and Montreal will end on August 16.
