Eurasian Development Bank mulling over allocation of loan for Belarus

The Eurasian Development Bank is considering the possibility of allocating credit for Belarus. The bank held a meeting with the government of our country and studied the economic situation of the country.

The sides agreed to continue the discussion on a loan during the visit to Minsk of a mission of experts of the Eurasian Foundation of Stabilization and Development. The visit is scheduled for August 24-28.

The purpose of the fund, founded in 2009, is to support the participating states after the global financial crisis, as well as assisting the integration processes in the region.

Dmitry Pankin, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank:
The position of Belarusian side, Belarusian government was that we need to take a wider range of projects and not be limited to purely integration projects. It is necessary to deal with the structural reforms so that the economy does not only focus on oil, so that other sectors rise and average business develops. For this we need a different structure of the economy, which is more oriented to the market.
