Dave Lewis to work with Belarus ice hockey team until 2018

The contract signed with head coach of the Belarusian national ice hockey team Dave Lewis ends in 2018, after the Olympic cycle. This was announced today at a press conference by chairman of the Hockey Federation of the Republic of Belarus Igor Rachkovsky.

"The contract runs until 31 May 2018. The Federation did not doubt the professionalism of the specialist for a second. When we first met Dave did not focus on the financial component. I, as head of the federation, was well aware that after the IIHF WC in the Czech Republic Dave will have a lot of offers, but he said clearly that he wanted to continue working in Belarus. I can only add that the terms of the second contract are better, the amount has increased but is still quite reasonable," said the chairman of the Ice Hockey Federation.

Coaching staff has also been left without significant changes. Michael Lenner and Craig Woodcroft continue to work with the national team. Dave Lewis will still be assisted by former Belarus players Oleg Antonenko and goalie Andrei Mezin.

There is only one change Alexander Zhurik was replaced by Yuri Faikov. "I have recently met with Yuri Faikov. This is a great specialist who has great hockey knowledge," commented Dave Lewis on the change.
