Lidia Yermoshina: Youth in Belarus expresses increasing interest in presidential election

Interest in the campaign among the youth in Belarus is growing, said the head of the Belarusian Central Election Commission at a meeting with leaders of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM Youth Union). During an open debate, Lidia Yermoshina was present as an expert. Young representatives of non-governmental organizations discussed the electoral system of the Republic of Belarus.

More than two hundred leaders of youth organizations from across the country gathered at the round table within the project Vybirai.BY (English: ELECT.BY). All forum participants could use the opportunity to ask the experts present any questions and also express their proposals regarding the electoral system in Belarus.

Lidia Yermoshina, Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus:
The company "Vybiray.by", including today's debate is one of those social events that must take place. It is possible that these events will result in youth's better political outlook.

Sergei Vladimirov, First Secretary of the Pinsk district committee of the NGO "Belarusian Republican Youth Union":
This format is very topical. It is really something we lacked .People ask questions and get quick answers.

Nikita Vdovenko, Belarusian State University student:
Everyone can contribute. Student organizations are active in our university so many initiatives offered by the youth are implemented.
