Televised debate of presidential candidates in Belarus due October 3

The televised debate of presidential candidates will be held in Belarus October 3, 2015, said Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina.

The main contenders for the highest post of the country will appear on TV on the eve of early voting. Before the debates, each candidate will be able to personally address Belarusians. Each of them will define whether their speech will be aired live or be recorded. Election programs will appear in the print media and on radio.

An information center, which will accumulate data from polling stations, will open in the Palace of the Republic on October 10, one day before the election.

Lidia Yermoshina, Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus:
We lengthen election campaigning. Previously, it all lasted only two weeks (at least when it comes to air time). Now candidates' speeches and addresses will be aired live during one a month. Earlier debates were held two weeks before early voting, while now they take place on the eve of early voting. This is another opportunity for candidates to remind voters about themselves.
