CIS long-term mission to start monitoring Belarus presidential elections by August 12

A long-term mission of the CIS plans to start monitoring the presidential elections in Belarus until 12 August. This was reported by the Central Election Commission of the country. During the month, OSCE monitors will also arrive in Belarus.

The CEC has accredited seven national observers. Recently, this list has been supplemented by representatives of the Communist and Liberal Democratic parties.

Meanwhile, the action teams continue to collect signatures in support of the eight potential candidates for the presidency. Each of them until August 21 needs to collect at least 100 thousand signatures. Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina told the CTV that there had been no complaints on the part of election campaign participants.

The Central Election Commission will register candidates from 6 to 15 September. After that, the official candidates for the top post in the country will go to the next stage of the election campaign - agitation. The election of the President of Belarus will be held October 11.
