Belarus President signs anti-corruption law July 17

The Belarus President signed Law on Combating Corruption on 17 July. The document spells out restrictions for officials, as well as the procedure for the declaration of income and assets.

In particular, management positions cannot be occupied by persons dismissed for defamatory facts, as well as those who committed grave or especially grave crimes or used their official position.

Among other things, such officials will be of the right to long service pension and will be granted only age pension. The law also gives the green light for some initiatives of citizens received during the public discussion of the document. In particular, the law introduces the institution of public control in the sphere of corruption combating.
