Belarus wants to explore new forms of military action

The Belarus President wants graduates of military schools to use their knowledge and experience to ensure the country's national security. On July 7, at the Palace of Independence, the head of state honored excellent students as well as senior officers. Alexander Lukashenko conferred the rank of general on 7 of them.

The President noted that the painstaking building of a reliable defense system, creation of a mobile, highly professional and efficient army that can resist any threats of our time has been of paramount importance during the two decades of sovereign Belarus.

Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus President:
In the current environment it is more important than ever to explore new forms of military action and monitor the ever-changing situation in the world. We see that armed clashes are taking place in the Middle East, North Africa, our brotherly Ukraine. The activity of NATO in Eastern Europe causes serious concern . Now methods and forms of warfare have changed significantly. And our law enforcement agencies need to rapidly evolve and keep pace with the times. Therefore, the defense system of our country needs to be constantly improved. After coming to a new place of service in your units, this task will become your direct responsibility and your daily work.
Today's graduates of military schools have to use all their knowledge and experience to ensure national security and improve its efficiency. Take into account that we not only provide our sovereignty but also work closely with our partners in the [Belarus-Russia] Union State and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Efficiency, quality of education in Russian military schools have been recognized outside the country. This is evidenced by the fact that students abroad want to train in the armed forces of Belarus.
I must say that my colleagues, presidents, request help in the training of national personnel of the Armed Forces at every international meeting. It is not only post-Soviet space. These are the largest states of our planet. They like the level of training, they like order, the absence of any formalism. And, of course, prices are also playing a role. But the main thing is quality and level of training of those who come to us for this knowledge.
Dear fellow officers. I want to congratulate you on the successful completion of studies. I also congratulate the officers of the Armed Forces, the State Security Committee, the forensic department and the prosecutor's office on your getting the highest officer ranks. I wish you every success in serving our homeland.

Ratings and experts traditionally place Belarusian army amone most combat-ready in the CIS and Europe. This is a great achievement for the 20-year history of independence. The strong armed forces is one of its elements.

Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus President:
The ceremony has its own meaning: we have here today present and future generals together. They need to see the ceremony, and know that ahead of them is not only the rank of general - I know well what military service is - but respect to those who receive them. This is respect of our society. So I wish all of you to not only keep general's shoulder straps in your hands but also enjoy this respect and be worthy defenders of our Fatherland.
