Belarus' player Yekaterina Snytina on 2015 FIBA EuroBasket

Belarusian basketball player Ekaterina Snytina answers the questions of the program "Sports Week" on the CTV.

Ekaterina, you have just returned from the European Basketball Championships. Are your tired?

Ekaterina Snytina
I had a feeling that I spent in Hungary and Romania three months rather than three weeks. So, yeah, I do not know what is happening, what day it is today. I was told that this is Monday, and I did not know. We have left ourselves there.

What was the most dramatic moment for you?

Ekaterina Snytina:
Perhaps the game against Serbia. The last 18 seconds. Personally, I did not do anything for us to move the game into overtime or win.  When we moved to Budapest, it was already the last 16 round, I did not sleep a week, because it's impossible.  Basketball seems to be everywhere, 24 hours a day. But we ended the tournament. Hooray.

Fourth place - is it good?

Ekaterina Snytina:
It's good. I am a maximalist, I always want more, but I was at the press conference after our final game and I realized that this is great that Belarus took fourth place in the whole of Europe. Therefore, I am happy. I am grateful to my team, I am proud of all, proud of my team.

You maybe felt support from Belarus, not only from travelling fans. Streets were deserted when your games were aired.

Ekaterina Snytina:
Sure. Now in the 21st century, we have the Internet. We received about 140 messages, the girls could not read them all.   People called, wrote, tried to somehow convey to us that we are not alone fighting.

For me, the most striking and memorable match was against Lithuania. A huge advantage melted and in the last one and a half seconds you simply threw the ball across the court. I thought you just wanted to waste time.

Ekaterina Snytina:
No, this is not football. The ball must touch at least some of the players. Honestly, I tried to come up with some logical justification for what I did. But, to be honest, I cannot think up anything.  That all ended, luckily. And it was the longest 1.5 seconds of my life. Lithuanians had a chance to even the score or win the game.

The bronze medal match was probably not the greatest success of our team. We cannot say that it was one of the best matches of the championship. Why?

Ekaterina Snytina:
This final match is in my head. I re-watched it recently, we lost 16 points.  I am so tired that I do not remember everything. I remember that penalty for five fouls, I could not stop Alba Torrens, who then entered into the top five. I knew that we would fight and give all his remaining energy.  But the Spaniards were better.

For now we are forced to introduce new players (I am talking about Harding, of course).  How did the American fit into the game?

Ekaterina Snytina:
Initially, it was uncomfortable due to the fact that she had come a week before the tournament. We did not know how she will adapt. But after 2-3 training sessions we knew she would fit well.  She is a very good player and a very kind person. We are definitely lucky with our "Belarusian."

Some say that Belarus lacked experience of playing important international matches. Serbians, for example, play in the top championships.

Ekaterina Snytina:
I do not know what to say. This is a national team - you have what you have. But I can tell you that even a few years ago, 5-6 years ago, we played the same way. When most of us played abroad, we had problems at the end of every game.   Even two minutes were sometimes enough to miss the advantage. I cannot say that this is our hallmark. This is our scourge. It remains from year to year.

Did you party after the championship?

Ekaterina Snytina:
Yep. Our ambassador came to congratulate us, we had a small party in the hotel, like other teams. This is Europe, people know each other, play for many years against each other, sometimes together in the same clubs.

You said goodbye to each other at the airport?

Ekaterina Snytina:
Yes, about an hour ago. Everyone told each other to have a proper rest. We call each other and chat in social networks. Some meet and talk in person. That is, we do not disappear. We don't say "Goodbye and see you next year."
