Belarus President takes part in solemn ball of graduates in Minsk

The cherished invitation to the main ball of graduates was sent to 253 students. They are the best students around the country. This is their finest hour.

Daria Trigubova, a graduate of the Minsk State Linguistic University:
This is a wonderful way to say thank you to the students for good grades. And first of all, it is a great joy, a new achievement, new discoveries!

The younger generation will determine the future of the country, stressed the President addressing the alumni. The state will support the best young talents. And it is especially symbolic that the ball was first held in the Palace of Independence on the Year of the Youth.

Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus President:
You had the opportunity to get the most current knowledge and useful skills. You have received a higher education. The state takes care of the fact that each of you has secure jobs. And it is very important for people - to feel needed. But the diploma is only the first step in becoming a true specialist. I hope you will be able to carry through life this sincere love to knowledge, a craving for self-education and respect for your mentors.

The President handed letters of commendation to 23 teachers and students, after which the graduates uttered an oath of allegiance to the Motherland.

In a warm and informal atmosphere, Alexander Lukashenko said parting words to graduates.

Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus President:
We are free people. We live in a free, independent country. No one makes you work. I see a lot of women with prams. Yesterday when I was near the Trostenets camp I saw a lot of them in the forest nearby. I thought that if a woman with her little heir today can come up with a stroller and walk freely in the forest, so we are worth something. This means we have created our country where we will raise children, educate them, and teach how to live. And that's all is our homeland.
