Alexander Lukashenko, Xi Jinping visit Great Patriotic War Museum in Minsk

Historical memory becomes particularly valuable in crisis times when the world's future is uncertain. This statement was made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko while visiting the Museum of the Great Patriotic War with President Xi Jinping.

Now the museum features a separate exhibition "Belarus and China. Milestones of military brotherhood".

In May 1945, Nazi Germany surrendered, but the Second World War continued.And it ended there, in the Grand China, with the defeat of the Kwantung Army. This put an end to Japanese militarism. And this was done by Soviet troops jointly with the People's Liberation Army of China. The war in the Far East lasted eight long years. It claimed the lives of 35 million Chinese people. Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping made a decision in September on a large scale celebrations of the end of WWII in the Far East, in China. This is a great guarantee that history will never be falsified and your heroism will never be forgotten.
Today, my friend, the President of China, and I came to this sacred room to bow to the fallen and alive.

On May 11, in the Victory Hall, Chairman Xi Jinping conferred Medals of Peace on veterans.

Medals were awarded to 15 Belarusians who took part in the battles against the Japanese at the end of the Second World War. At the end of ceremony, the Chinese leader said that the visit to the museum left deep impressions.

During the Second World War, faced with the most terrible war in human history, the Belarusian people showed great courage and courageously and were among the first to tackle the mighty of Nazi troops. It was thanks to  heroism that Belarusians earned respect and recognition from the peoples of the world. 
Dear veterans, dear friends. At this point, when we celebrate our common victory, we must not forget that in the years of our joint struggle against the Nazi aggressors, Belarusian and Chinese people fought shoulder to shoulder. It was during these years our peoples shed blood that strengthened our combat friendship. Today’s event is attended by Belarusian veterans who personally participated in these hostilities. And they made
​​a great contribution to our victory, our liberation. And once again I sincerely thank you and bow to you.
