U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band to partake in May 9 military parade in Minsk

Preparation for the parade in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory in WWII is approaching the finish line. At the stele "Minsk Hero City", participants of the parade are putting finishing touches to the show.

The length of the column is record-breaking 5 kilometers.

Vladimir Kazanevich knows everything about how tanks behave in the city. This will be his fourth parade. Therefore, special attention is given to crew training.

Vladimir Kazanevich, commander of a tank company in the 120th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus:
Selection was a hard part of all this process. We took into account many aspects when choosing drivers. We tested them.

There are a lot of people near these rarity vehicles. Future defenders of the Motherland are trying on headsets and tell the CTV about the troops they want to serve in.

Alexander Vlaskin:
It is hard to control an aircraft. But when you are in the tank, you can be assisted by another soldier.

On May 9, at 11.00, over 5,000 servicemen and 250 pieces of equipment will parade in the capital near the stele "Minsk Hero City".

The column will feature new domestic developments of the military industry, reactive systems and rocket launchers as well as armored vehicles and artillery. Some 40 units of aircraft will rise into the sky. At 10 pm, there will be a firework show.

For the first time, the parade will be attended by guests from the United States.

Vladimir Makarov, spokesman for the main department of ideological work of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus:
On May 6, the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band arrives in the Republic of Belarus (in Minsk) to take part in the festivities in Belarus.

A parade in honor of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War is a good tradition in Belarus. It has been sacred from the Soviet times. This is memory of the heroism of the people, its courage and valor. This is memory about the cost of life of every third Belarusian who fought to destroy Nazism and the people who finally won a great victory on May 9, 1945.
