Belarus hockey team pay tribute to WWII victims prior to 2015 IIHF World Championships

The Belarusian national hockey team was involved in Victory Day celebrations on the eve of the festive date.

On April 28, the Belarusian delegation headed by Chairman of the Ice Hockey Federation Igor Rachkovsky, as well as with the Minister of Sports and Tourism Alexander Shamko laid flowers by the monument in Minsk's Victory Square.

The entire team commemorated the fallen with a minute of silence. Very soon the Belarusian team are heading for the Czech Republic where the World Championships will be held.

Head coach of the national team Dave Lewis was asked about the possible arrival of Mikhail Grabowski, whose club (New York Islanders) was knocked out of the Stanley Cup.

Dave Lewis, head coach of the Belarusian ice hockey team:
I have not spoken to Mikhail, he played his match last night. Grabowski very much wants to join us but first he has to get management approval New York Islanders.
With regard to tasks we have set. We'll not achieve anything if we do not set serious goals. At the upcoming World Championships, to win medals is the main task for me personally and for the entire team.
