Belarus posts foreign trade surplus in first months of 2015

The Belarusian economy has a positive trade balance. The Belarus Government voiced foreign trade figures in the first months of 2015 on April 25. The figure is imposing - about $700 million.

The figure has clearly improved compared with the previous period.

Still, however, there are problems with an important predictive parameter - export.

Export declined by almost a quarter in the same period. There are objective reasons - difficult economic situation in neighboring countries as well as subjective - the reluctance of manufacturers to seek new partners. Therefore, according to Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov, now need to rapidly reorient exports to the Russian market to other areas, said the news program "24 Hours" on STV.

Andrei Kobyakov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
Under the influence of unfavorable external economic environment, in the first quarter, there was a significant decline in industrial production (7.3%), no significant reduction in stocks of finished goods in warehouses, whose volume has increased. Despite these efforts to build and diversify exports, targets regarding export of goods set by the Government of the Republic of Belarus for 2015 are not met in absolutely all sectors and regions. Exports increased only to Asian countries excluding the CIS member states.
