Belarus' Darya Domracheva claims first Big Crystal Globe in career

Darya Domracheva of Belarus won Big Crystal Globe at the World Cup Biathlon in Russia's Khanty-Mansiysk. She came in 4th out of 30 best biathletes of the world beating her rival from Finland - Kaisa Mäkäräinen – in the standings.

This is the first Big Crystal Globe in the career of the three-time Olympic champion.

Before the start, Darya Domracheva was 33 points ahead of Mäkäräinen. She needed a place from 1st to 12th to secure a victory in the overall standings.

In the last event, Domracheva completed the 12.5 km race in 35:37.1 and missing twice. She lost to the winner 28.9 seconds. Mäkäräinen came in 13th, with five misses.

Germany's Laura Dahlmerier won the event. Gabriela Soukalova of the Czech Republic was second (+7.1 seconds), while France's Marie Dorin Habert (+19.9) was third.
