Domracheva needs place above 13th in March 22 mass start to win World Cup Biathlon

The men's and women's pursuit completed the picture of the final stage of the World Cup Biathlon in Khanty-Mansiysk. Canadian Nathan Smith won the men's event.

In the previous race, Kaisa Mäkäräinen almost closed the gap between herself and Darya Domracheva in the overall World Cup standings. That is why the best biathlete knew that she had to do her best to win the pursuit.

Nevertheless, at the second turn Domracheva almost mixed up the standing and prone stage as she once did. When it was necessary to shoot from the prone position, Dasha somehow stayed on her feet, ready to shoot. But suddenly she laid down on the mat (maybe she heard screams from the stands) and, with a smile, began to shoot.

At the third range, Mäkäräinen made a real gift to Domracheva by missing twice. On the final range, Kaisa allowed one mistake, but Domracheva shot clear like from a machine gun removing all questions about the winner of the pursuit.

It is noteworthy that Darya Domracheva entered the top three athletes in the history of biathlon in terms of the number of individual medals at the World Cups, World Championships and Olympic Games.

On March 22, in the mass start, Domracheva needs to finish no lower than in 12th place to win the overall standings.
