President reviews Belarus' Development Bank's operation in 2014

President Lukashenko met on March 16 with chairman of the Belarus Development Bank, Sergei Rumas, to discuss the support of small and medium-sized businesses, diversification of supply and the outcome of the bank's operation. Until now, this commercial organization remains the leader in terms of total profit, profit per employee and profitability.

By the end of 2014, the assets of Development Bank increased by 33%. At the same time, the diversification of supplies today remains one of the main challenges.

The President asked not to be limited to traditional trading partners. The meeting participants discussed the initiative of the Development Bank to support small and medium-sized businesses.

Sergei Rumas, Chairman of OAO Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus:
That program to lend for investment projects, which the Bank is running with nine partner banks in the field of small and medium-sized business, is already yielding results. The head of the state was interested in what projects have been funded and what businessmen received from such support through the Development Bank. The results of this program: in 2014 we funded 99 projects in the field of small and medium-sized businesses, with credit support of the Bank amounting to Br90 billion. But the total cost of these projects (businessmen invested their own funds in it) was Br650 billion.

In addition, Alexander Lukashenko asked Sergei Rumas, who is also chairman of the Belarusian Football Federation, about the development of this sport in Belarus.

This is important especially given that soon Belarus will host the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship. First of all, the stadium Traktor should be prepared for the competition. It must meet international requirements and host matches of the final stage of the championship.
