Head of Belarusian Agriculture Ministry: We are honest with Russia

Belarus did not allow transit of goods that fell under embargo through its territory to Russia. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Leonid Zayats who commented on the Russian side's statement that Belarus let forbidden fruit and vegetables pass through its territory.

The claims relate to the facts when products were transported to Kazakhstan rather than the Russian Federation.

To avoid misunderstandings in the future, Russian specialists have been invited to accompany such goods to the Kazakhstan-Russia border. The Russian side has not yet responded to this suggestion.

Leonid Zayats, Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus:
Our actions towards Russia are honest. We are impressed by the decision of Rosselkhoznadzor [Russian sanitary watchdog], which experts visited our businesses and border areas in December 2014. They say there have been no complaints against phytosanitary and veterinary services when it comes to discipline, honesty and the passing of vehicles with goods to Belarus.

The resumption of beef supplies to Russia will be discussed on February 3 within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Commission meeting in Moscow.

The sides will talk over the operation of nine Belarusian enterprises which beef exports to Russia have been banned.
