Belarus' Player of the Year 2014 announced

Sergei Krivets has been voted the best player of Belarus of 2014. The midfielder, who is now playing for France's Metz, earlier spent football years in BATE (Belarus) and played in Poland and China.

The traditional ceremony Golden Ball was held in Minsk to summarize the outcome of the football year in Belarus.

However, Sergei has been unable to attend the ceremony since France's Ligue 1 is currently underway.

The Belarusian Premier League finished in early December, with BATE becoming champions for the 11th time in the history of sovereign Belarus.

Igor Stasevich from Dinamo Minsk was named the best player of the Belarusian Premier League.

BATE's Yegor Filipenko scooped the Best Defender Award. Mikhail Gordeychuk, also from FC BATE, was voted the Best Striker of Belarus.

Viktor Goncharenko (in the photo) was named the best Belarusian coach. Until recently, he was manager in the Russian Premier League side Kuban from Krasnodar.

However, the coach was sacked for being ‘too lenient to players’. Kuban were 5th in the Russian championship at the moment when Goncharenko was fired. Now the club is 8th. The Russian Premier League will resume on 7 March. The new season in the Belarusian Premier League 2015 will begin roughly at the same time.
