Brisbane International: Victoria Azarenka loses opening match in 2015

Belarusian Victoria Azarenka has lost her opening match of 2015, the year which she was hoping to start from scratch forgetting about a disastrous 2014.

Azarenka, however, lost to Czech Karolína Plíšková in the first round of the Brisbane International in Australia.

The former No.1 in the WTA rankings won the first set (6:4) and had a match-ball in the tiebreak in the second set but was unable to use it. Victoria Azarenka lost the second set with a score of 6:7.

In the third, she was 4:3 ahead but was eventually defeated by Plíšková in the end. The match lasted 3 hours and 13 minutes.

In 2014, at this tournament, Azarenka reached the final. After the season marred by injuries she is 42nd in the WTA rankings.
