Alexander Lukashenko sets task to beautify Mogilev

More gloss and harmony are needed in Mogilev urban development, stated the Belarus President during his working trip to Mogilev region. The head of state was informed about the fulfillment of instructions on socio-economic development of the region.  Alexander Lukashenko noted that other regional centers had already been beautified. However, Mogilev is lagging behind in these positions. So a plan of modernization of the city needs to be created.

Mark Zuckerberg has announced that his company has successfully tested solar-powered drones which will in the near future will cover the planet with a wireless Internet network. It is assumed that such drones will hover at an altitude of 18 kilometers. Each machine will be able to be on duty for 3 months and then will be returned to the base for service maintenance. These drones will make the Internet accessible everywhere, anywhere in the world, even for the poorest representatives of humanity, as the connection is free of charge.

A ceremony to present colonel's shoulder straps to Interior Ministry officers took place in Minsk. The ceremony ended with the laying of flowers to the stela Minsk - Hero City.

The President of Belarus requires a multiplier effect in the development of Belarusian industrial enterprises. Alexander Lukashenko said about this while visiting the company Technolit. The head of state today, 22 July, is on a working trip to the Mogilev region. The President reported on the development of innovative technologies and the organization of high-quality engine parts manufacturing. At present, Technolit produces components for automotive, agricultural, road, construction and special equipment.

Belarusian peacekeepers conduct tactical exercises near Vitebsk

Tactical peacekeeping exercises were held near Vitebsk. Soldiers trained in creating buffer zones, separation of conditional conflicting parties as well as escort of humanitarian convoys. Each training of Belarusian peacekeepers has its own scenario based on real international practice. According to the present drills, a contingent of blue helmets is called to stabilize the situation in the conflict zone between the two countries.

Dinamo Minsk and Torpedo Zhodino have entered the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, while Shakhtyor Soligorsk was knocked out. Dinamo, under the new coach Sergei Borovsky, played in Dublin against St Patrick's and opened the scoring on 18 minutes after Gleb Rassadkin's effort. This goal was the only one and Dinamo qualified for the next round on aggregate. In the first leg, in Minsk the teams drew 1:1. In the next round, Dinamo will meet with Serbian Vojvodina.

Poland has refused to accept refugees from the Middle East and North Africa. The interior minister said that the experience of Western European countries was a good lesson for Warsaw. In order not to repeat the mistakes of the European countries, the state will not let the illegal immigrants into the republic. You can see paintings, interior and even the place where the great master of the brush worked.    Exhibition organizers have recreated the famous Chagall room from the Vitebsk apartment - a desk and a drawer, where the artist kept sketches of his paintings. Even the landscape outside the window has recreated. It was this very landscape that inspired the author to create the famous Walk.

25% of the Earth's bison population lives in Belarus

The restoration of the population of bison in the Bialowieza Forest began exactly 70 years ago. This is one of the rarest animals on our planet and a pride of Belarusians. About a quarter of the planet's bison population lives in Belarus.   The last animal living in the forest was killed in the early XX century. An attempt to revive the population was made in the 1930s. A new farm for breeding purebred animals was organized only in 1946. Then five bison were moved to Belarus.

Last week the Belarusian President handed Olympians the national flag. Let us hope that it will raise at least several times in Brazil and our athletes will again conquer Olympic medals. A farewell ceremony for the national team was held at the Palace of Independence. The first group of Belarusian athletes will travel to Rio de Janeiro on July 23.

FC BATE to take on Dundalk in Champions League 3rd qualifying round

The Irish Club Dundalk will for a second time be the rivals of FC BATE Borisov in Champions League qualification. In the second qualifying round, the Irish champions twice drew against the Icelandic club Hafnarfjordur 1:1 (home) and 2:2 (away) and entered the third qualifying round thanks to the higher aggregate number of away goals. The Borisov club beat Finnish Seinäjoki 2:0 (home) and drew 2:2 (away). In 2015, BATE and Dundalk met in the 2nd qualifying round and the Borisov team won 2:1 (home, watch the video) and 0:0 (away).

2nd Air Sports Festival due at Borovaya airfield July 30-31

The second Festival of Air Sports will be held July 30-31 at the airport Borovaya (Minsk region). Taking part in the event will be 16 strongest helicopter crews from Belarus, Russia, the Czech Republic, Austria and Poland. More than thirty of the best Belarusian paratroopers are preparing to establish a national record and gather in free fall a figure that should break the record of 2014 - 20 people.  The speed of the fall is over 200 km/h.

China to invest $120 million in hotel and business center in Minsk

Another joint Belarusian-Chinese project has started today - the construction of a modern hotel and business complex in the Tsentralnyi district of Minsk. On July 20 a capsule was laid here with a message to future generations in Belarusian and Chinese. The design occupies an area of ​​140,000 square meters and is unique for Belarus. The high-risers, from 9 to 25 floors, will house offices, a hotel and even a clinic. A fitness center and 8 tennis courts are also included in the plan.

Belarus and China are discussing the possibility of implementing new large-scale business projects. Mutual interests were talked over during the meeting of the Belarus President with the head of CITIC Group, China's largest corporation, at the Palace of Independence on July 20. The parties already have successful experience of cooperation. First of all, this is the construction of three cement plants and modernization of Orsha Linen Mill. Now they are creating a company for the production of cars, as well as the first joint investment fund.

Two parks to appear in Minsk

Minsk residents have been invited to participate in a public discussion regarding the new urban development project in the Frunzensky district. The city authorities are mulling creating two new parks. One will be located in a wooded area of the Medvezhino neighborhood. The July 1 redenomination has not lead to higher prices in the Belarus capital. Labels in stores are under control. Minsk trade services are monitoring the situation in all trade pavilions weekly. 16 officials in Minsk have been fined since the beginning of 2016 for violation of the price and antitrust laws. Among the major violations is exceeding the maximum limit of trade margins in respect of socially important goods.

Athlete Tatyana Kholodovich continues to show good form during the Olympic season. After winning the European Championship and a stage of the Diamond League in Monaco the Belarusian topped the ranking table of an international tournament in the Italian Padua. The javelin thrower, in her best attempt, showed a result of 61m 85cm.  Other Belarusian athletes competed in Padua. Ilona Usovich ran the 400m (53.08 sec.) posting the fifth best time. In the triple jump, Dmitry Plotnitsky showed a result of 16m 19cm and also took fifth place.

As part of preparation for the parliamentary elections, hundreds of situations that can cause additional questions during the election campaign have been worked out at a seminar in Minsk. These include security and technical support. Taking part in the seminar were representatives of the executive committees of all the regions of Belarus.
