This year marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Belarus-China diplomatic relations. On this occasion, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of China Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages. One of the biggest results of cooperation is the construction of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone. It’s already called a true gem of the economic belt of the Silk Road.

Then the International Federation of canoe athletes accused the Belarusians of doping. Thus the men's rowing team did not get into the Rio Olympics, at which they had been considered among the favorites.

Private investment for Belarusian satellite BKA-2

The second remote sensing satellite will be created with the help of private investment. BKA-2 will be at least four times better than its predecessor. This spacecraft will based on the same platform as the first one, but with a number of improvements and a new telescope. The satellite will create topographical maps of the 1:10,000 scale. BKA-2 is scheduled for launch by 2019 from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia. The creation of BKA-2 is already underway.

The visa-free regime for citizens of 80 countries doesn’t have any risks for Belarus and neighboring countries. On the 20th of January Alexander Lukashenko approved the decision on the protection of the state borders of the country in 2017. This topic was earlier discussed twice at the highest level. It was affected by some external factors such as difficult international environment, increase in terrorism and illegal migration.

Belarusian schools to switch to six-day week

Study at school on Saturdays will be reorganized. New forms of work such as facultative lessons, working education, and consultations with parents are provided in a new official document. This departmental order was signed by the Minister of Education of Belarus. School education cannot stand still. Textbooks, programs, as well as approaches to learning process change. Nevertheless, the sixth day at Belarusian schools will be reorganized. For example, problematic issues related to children's learning can be discussed directly with teachers.

Belarusian food products to have special labels in EEU market

Belarusian food products will be marked with a special sign in the EEU market. GMO labeling will be required on all food packaging. These changes will amend the Law on Quality and Safety of Food Raw Materials and Food Products. MPs of the House of Representatives are also considering other amendments that provide unhindered access for Belarusian goods to the EEU market.  On 18 January, Belarusian MPs discussed the stages of the legislative process.

These two countries are neighbors on the continent. In Cairo, the two leaders discussed a roadmap for cooperation development. The sides then held the third Belarusian-Egyptian business forum. The parties agreed to deepen cooperation in industry and agriculture.

In the morning on January 17, Alexander Lukashenko arrived at the residence of his Sudanese counterpart Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir. The one-on-one negotiations have already been held. The sides plan to put emphasis on economic cooperation.

Belarus and Hong Kong have agreed on the mutual abolition of visas. The agreement was reached during the official visit of the Belarusian delegation to the special administrative region of China. Economy and defense should be the basis for Belarus-Egypt cooperation. Alexander Lukashenko met with the Prime Minister of Egypt Sherif Ismail in Cairo January 16. The sides will form a plan for short and mid-term strategies in the near future, the Belarus head of state emphasized. In his turn, the Egyptian Prime Minister expressed hope that the Belarus President’s visit will take relations between the two countries in economy and politics to a higher level.

Official negotiations between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi took place on the 15th of January. The main topics were trade, industrial cooperation, science, education, health and tourism. Alexander Lukashenko met with his Egyptian counterpart in the Al Ittihadiya Palace (Heliopolis Palace). The guard of honor took part in the protocol ceremony. There was a period in the history of this palace when a military hospital was located here.
